Continuous Maps of the Interval Whose Periodic Points Form a Closed Set
We show that for a continuous map of a closed interval to itself, if the set of periodic points is closed, then every recurrent point is periodic. If, furthermore, the set of least periods of the periodic points is finite, then every nonwandering point is periodic. This answers a question of L. Block [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 67 (1977), 357-360]. Introduction. In [1] and [2], L. Block studied con...
متن کاملDensity of the Periodic Points in the Interval Set
The dynamical system (f,R) is introduced and some of its properties are investigated. It is proven that there is an invariant set Λ on which the periodic points of f are dense.
متن کاملContinuous Maps of the Circle with Finitely Many Periodic Points
Let f be a continuous map of the circle into itself . The main purpose of this paper is to study the properties of the unstable manifold associated to a periodic point of f . Let 2(f) denote the nonwandering set of f . Suppose f has finitely many periodic points . Then, using the unstable manifolds associated to periodic points of f, three theorems are proved providing complete answers to the f...
متن کاملDense Set of Negative Schwarzian Maps Whose Critical Points Have Minimal Limit Sets
We study C2-structural stability of interval maps with negative Schwarzian. It turns out that for a dense set of maps critical points either have trajectories attracted to attracting periodic orbits or are persistently recurrent. It follows that for any structurally stable unimodal map the ω-limit set of the critical point is minimal.
متن کاملCommon Periodic Points for a Class of Continuous Commuting Mappings on an Interval
The existence of common periodic points for a family of continuous commuting self-mappings on an interval is proved and two illustrative examples are given in support of our theorem and definition. 1. Introduction and preliminaries. All mappings considered here are assumed to be continuous from the interval I = [u, v] to itself. Let F(f) and P (f) be the set of fixed and periodic points of f , ...
